In 2012, Ahmad Otak, an Afghan refugee, brutally murdered Elisa Frank's sister and best friend in front of her eyes. He is now serving a life sentence in prison but Elisa was left severely traumatised. This is her own dramatic account of the event and of the months she then spent in psychiatric care before returning home. Her beautifully written descriptions of others' behaviour and of her own mental states are breathtaking.
