For those who desire to tackle craft projects but don't know where to start, blogger Hudgins (A Subtle Revelry) strives to get you started. Beginning with a review of the various tools and equipment needed, preparation, and suggestions on finding inspiration, the author supplies instructions for more than 30 craft projects for home decor. The book is divided into chapters by materials, which include paint, concrete, thread, wax, wood, glue, and metal. More than 150 color photographs and illustrations are supplied as well as the skill level and time to complete each project; each chapter concludes with additional projects that are offered online. Along the way, Hudgins gives encouragement and tips for success. VERDICT Hudgins's encouraging advice and the materials that are infrequently used in home decor craft projects, such as concrete and clay, make this primer suited for the first-time do-it-yourselfer.
