Unable to make a proper prognosis for her patient, Dr. Sandy Miller calls for help from her colleague and secret crush, Dr. Brian Harrison who is a seasoned doctor with extraordinary abilities in genetic engineering and a leader in his field. But when Dr. Miller reveals that the patient is from her home-town, that he is a police officer and his name is Warren Edward, Dr. Harrison is sent spiraling into a masked, dark rage. As soon as Dr. Miller leaves Dr. Harrison alone with Edward in the examination room, Dr. Harrison disconnects all Warren Edward's vital tubes, and then leaves the man for dead. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Miller returns momentarily to the room, only to find Warren Edward on his last breaths. She is able to save him and though she suspects Dr. Harrison is responsible for Edward's brush with death; she chooses to remain silent, never reporting the attempted crime to anyone. She does, however, go to Dr. Harrison's office to confront him about what exactly happened, but before they can even talk, she is savagely attacked by a bizarre creature—one of Dr. Harrison's secret and illegal genetic experiments.
