Third graders Quinny, an outspoken girl who prefers recess to math, and Hopper, a quiet, studious boy who prefers to stay behind the scenes, are best friends. Although their relationship is challenged by hurtful rumors, misunderstandings, and other school struggles, they manage to support each other.
