Clayton Burroughs is the Sheriff of Bull Mountain and the black sheep of the Burroughs clan. In the past, the family ran moonshine and farmed marijuana; now they're the dominant suppliers of methamphetamine. So when an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shows up in Clayton's office with a plan to shut them down, his agenda will pit brother against brother, and set Clayton on a path to self-destruction.

Set on Bull Mountain in North Georgia, this saga traces the Burroughs clan as the bloody and violent family evolves from selling moonshine in the 1950s to selling marijuana, methamphetamines, and guns today. Brian Troxell uses a range of voices to portray a disparate array of males and females, young and old of varied ethnicities. His poignant depictions of a wife coping with her husband's relapse or a sheriff hearing a whippoorwill's song during a confrontation exemplify the emotional depth of his narration. While a few stereotypical voices and mispronunciations weaken the production, his depiction of ongoing tensions and frequent eruptions into brutality will keep listeners enthralled with this Southern noir.
