Uninterested in marriage but fond of snooping, she plans to turn down all offers and start an investigative agency instead. Thane Pallister, earl of Mansfield and an arrogant and dashing war hero, is everything Lindsey dislikes about the nobility, and Drake does little to make him interesting or appealing: his motivation for investigating the murders is murky, just like his personality and his turbulent relationship with his family. The passion between the two is very stop-and-go, and the mystery just a prop to move Lindsey and Thane toward the bedroom.
