Bharathiyarin panchali sabatham (பாரதியாரின் பாஞ்சாலி சபதம்)

Panchali Sabdham is undoubtedly one of Bharathi's greatest gift to Tamil Literature. Bharathi expresses his wish to create an epic which is easy to read, understand appreciate by even laymen who have learnt Tamil for a year or two and not compromising on the standard at the same time; and he has been very successful. Simple terminology, captivating rhythm, and popular tune..are the highlights of Panchali Sabadam. Bharathi's love for India, his pride in India's glorious past and heritage, his anguish at the current state of affairs of this great country are reflected all through the poem. He ridicules those who think their duty is over by just sympathizing with the cause of the oppressed. His rage against the so called intellectuals who by their intelligent arguments justify the oppression creates a strong impact on the readers. Values like the duty of the kings, the path of democracy and warning against the evils of lust and jealousy which leads one to one's own destruction are all well portrayed. The author has well brought these out in this work of his with his thought provoking narrative. (எளிய பதங்கள், எளிய நடை, எளிதில் அறிந்து கொள்ளக் கூடிய சந்தம், பொது ஜனங்கள் விரும்பும் மெட்டு, இவற்றினையுடைய காவியம் ஒன்று தந்து தாய்மொழிக்குப் புத்துயிர் தர விழைந்த பாரதியின் உணர்ச்சிக் காவியம்தான் பாஞ்சாலி சபதம். ஓரிரண்டு வருஷத்து நூற்பழக்கம் உள்ள தமிழ் மக்கள் எல்லாருக்கும் பொருள் நன்கு விளங்க வேண்டும். அதே நேரத்தில் காவியத்துக்குள்ள நயங்கள் குறையக் கூடாது. இந்த வேட்கையுடன் ஆதர்சமாக அன்று, வழிகாட்டியாக இந்தக் காவியத்தை இயற்றியுள்ளதாக பாரதி சொல்கிறான். பாஞ்சாலி சபதத்தை "கள்ளையும் தீயையும் சேர்த்துக் காற்றையும் வான வெளியையும் சேர்த்து" பாரதி ஆக்கிய தீஞ்சுவைக் காவியம் என்று திண்ணமாகச் சொல்லலாம். அவனது தலை சிறந்த காவியம் என்று இதைச் சொல்ல முடியும். கவிச் சுவை "நனி சொட்டச் சொட்ட"க் கிடைக்கிறது. பாரதியின் மூச்சுக் காற்றான பாரத தேசத்துப் பற்று காவியம் முழுவதும் விரவிக் கிடக்கிறது. பண்டைய நிலையைச் சொல்லிப் பரவசமும், இன்றைய நிலையை எண்ணி ஏக்கமும் நெஞ்சு பொறுக்காத கோபமும் வெளிப்படுகின்றன. தீங்கு கண்டு வாய்ப்பேச்சில் "த்சொ,த்சொ," சொல்லி அத்தோடு கடமையை முடித்துக் கொள்கிற சாதாரணர்களின் பால் அவனுக்குள்ள ஏளனம் வெளிப்படுகிறது. இவர்களே தேவலை, தவறு என்று தெரிந்தும் அதை நியாயப் படுத்தச் சக்கரவட்டமாகப் பேசுகிற அறிவு ஜீவிகளை மோதி மிதித்து விட வேண்டும் போல் அவனுக்கு ஏற்படுகிற ஆக்ரோஷம் நம்மைத் தாக்குகிறது. அரச நீதி, ஜனநாயக நெறி, செல்வந்தர்களின் கடமை, பொறாமையும் காமமும் இட்டுச் செல்லும் அழிவுப்பாதை போன்ற நன்னெறிகளும் இந்தக் காவியத்தில் பாரதி வாயிலாக வெளிப் படுகின்றன. இத்தனை சிறப்புகளையும் பாரதியின் கவிதை வரிகளுடன், சிந்தனை தோய்ந்த விளக்க உரைகளுடன் படிக்கும் மனங்களில் தேனூற எழுதியிருக்கிறார் ஆசிரியர்.)
